Springo Prepares to Introduce Visual Navigation iPad App

The technology behind the visual navigation is known as “internet direct navigation” and is best described as a portal of other web sites, visually similar to the Safari “Top Sites” home page feature or Firefox plug-ins such as “Speed Dial”. While the official iPad app will more than likely be a redesigned UI to best suit the device’s multi touch and display, the website provides rows of sites with app sized icons providing suggestions based on your most visited sites as well as lists of recommendations such as “News”, “Music”, “Sports”, etc. The developers of the app do not claim the technology will replace traditional search services such as Google, but says the visual search tool will act as a complimentary tool to provide visual results for traditional search queries. What makes the Springo technology different from Google? Developer Refuah explains, “We have no plans to give Webmasters the power through back links, similar to Google,” Refuah says. “This is a problem because they influence ranking results. We will continue to sort the Web sites based on traffic volume and popularity of users.” Until the official iPad app is released, owners of Apple’s new device can check out the functionality of Springo by making it their homepage in the Safari.app. Buy an Apple iPad on Amazon.com

Skype Coming Soon to iPad

Skype Coming Soon to iPad

The good news? Skype has officially announced that they are working to bring an official Skype for iPad app to the App Store this summer. Skype promises the app will provide a whole new UI designed specifically for the larger iPad display. During the announcement, Skype’s Asia Pacific Vice President also mentioned hopes that future iPad hardware would integrate a front facing camera, much like the rumored next generation iPhone expected to launch at Apple’s World Wide Developer’s Conference next month. Skype VP Dan Neary said, “We believe that video is part of the Skype experience,” says the VP, “and we believe that video is moving aggressively into the mobile environment, so stay tuned on an announcement on that.” Neary clearly knows the iPad has some catching up to do however, “I think the iPad is an incredibly exciting product but it is clearly not the same communications device in its current form that the iPhone is,” he continues. “So we’re looking forward to further advancements in the iPad and where that can go in the future.” Buy an Apple iPad on Amazon.com Buy an 11 Item Accessory Bundle for Apple iPad Tablet 3G 16GB, 32GB, 64GB skin case, sleeve cover, earphone, screen protector, crystal case, 3.5 MM Aux cable.
