How to Stream Video to Your iPad

How to Stream Video to Your iPad

The holidays have calmed down and you finally have some time to spend with your new iPad. Buying an iPad is easy, using it is another story. Streaming video to your iPad will open up a whole new world of media heaven and offer endless possibilities without clogging your hard drive. It is easy and I’ll tell you how to do it. Watching video on your iPad can be one of the coolest functions of the gadget. Viewing media on the iPad has never been clearer but what if you have a big movie collection? Sure you can upload the movies to your iPad through iTunes but the limited space will clog your iPad hard drive quick. The solution is easy. Stream your movies from your computer to your iPad without having to download them and take him hard drive space. // // There are a few different iPad apps that you can use to stream your media but the Stream ToMe app seems to be the most popular. Stream ToMe is not free but for $3 it is one of the best bargains when you consider what you get and the amount of hard drive space you will save for a few measly bucks. Stream ToMe from the iTunes store Once you purchase Stream ToMe you need to then download the server companion, Serve ToMe (how cute right?). Once downloaded, open Serve ToMe. Select the folders you wish to share from your computer. Obviously your computer needs to be a network which is accessible through your iPad. Now that Seve ToMe is open, launch Stream ToMe from your iPad. Find the computer which houses the hard drive you wish to share and tap it. Once in, search through the folders and find the media of your choice. Open it and enjoy. Notice I didn’t mention music much at all here. That is because Stream ToMe is not a great music utility. Playing music in Stream ToMe can be a bit frustrating as the program stops after every song. You can’t play a playlist or multiple songs. If you want to hear one song, fine. If you want a jukebox, forget it. Streaming video on the other hand is not a problem since most movies are at least 90 minutes. There are some limitations. Protected video from the iTunes Store won’t play on Stream ToMe. On the flip side, Stream ToMe offers playback on a ton of different video types including; MOV, FLV, MP4, AVI, MPG, MKV, and WMV. For $3 you can’t beat it if you are looking to stream movies. If you are looking to stream music I’d recommend a different app like ZumoCast.   Buy an Apple iPad   Buy Apple iPad on Amazon.com iTunes Store Music

Permanent Link to How to Delete Photos from the iPad

Many of you will be waking up this holiday season to a brand new Apple iPad. The iPad is one of the most comprehensive gadgets on the market and if you don’t believe me, just ask an iPad user. There are many uses for the iPad from E Reader, watching movies, playing games, or storing photos. Storing photos on your iPad is easy and fun but deleting pictures from an iPad can be tricky. // // // ]]> I love the iPad because I can do numerous things with it rather than take numerous gadgets when I travel. If there is one downside to the iPad, it is the storage space. Storage space can fill up fast on the iPad. One of the main reasons for this is photos, but removing pictures from your iPad is not easy. Fortunately for you, I am here to help. Just follow these iPad instructions and you will have those pictures off of your iPad in no time, thus opening up room on the hard drive. The first step is to find the Photos iPad app. Tap it and open the application. Find “Albums” view and select it and then open the “Saved Photos.” This will take you to all of the pictures you stored on your iPad. Look for an arrow in the top right corner. Once you find it, tap the button and you will be presented with an option to delete. Scroll through your pictures, find the ones you want to delete from the iPad, and select them. Tap on the delete button and poof! Your photos have now been deleted off of your iPad. But wait, you made a mistake? You can still turn back. To make sure you didn’t make a mistake you will be asked for a confirmation on whether you want to delete the pictures or not. If you are sure you want to delete the pictures, accept the confirmation and you are done. I really like this because there are plenty of iPad newbies that may be playing around, find the delete option by accident, and tap it by mistake. Granted it is kind of hard to follow through with the entire process without being aware of what you are doing but you never know. Some people can be technically challenged and a lot of new iPad owners don’t have much experience with advanced technology. Remember, your photos won’t be deleted off of iTunes if you synced them on your computer to iTunes. So if you want to put any back, they will be easy to retrieve from iTunes. At the same time, if you want to permanently delete them go into iTunes and do it there. Keep in mind that if your iPad is set to automatically sync with your iTunes every time you connect it to your computer, the pictures will be downloaded again to the iPad. Make sure you change that option to manually sync to avoid having to repeat the entire deletion process once again. Springo Prepares to Introduce Visual Navigation iPad App

Springo Prepares to Introduce Visual Navigation iPad App

The technology behind the visual navigation is known as “internet direct navigation” and is best described as a portal of other web sites, visually similar to the Safari “Top Sites” home page feature or Firefox plug-ins such as “Speed Dial”. While the official iPad app will more than likely be a redesigned UI to best suit the device’s multi touch and display, the website provides rows of sites with app sized icons providing suggestions based on your most visited sites as well as lists of recommendations such as “News”, “Music”, “Sports”, etc. The developers of the app do not claim the technology will replace traditional search services such as Google, but says the visual search tool will act as a complimentary tool to provide visual results for traditional search queries. What makes the Springo technology different from Google? Developer Refuah explains, “We have no plans to give Webmasters the power through back links, similar to Google,” Refuah says. “This is a problem because they influence ranking results. We will continue to sort the Web sites based on traffic volume and popularity of users.” Until the official iPad app is released, owners of Apple’s new device can check out the functionality of Springo by making it their homepage in the Safari.app. Buy an Apple iPad on Amazon.com

Skype Coming Soon to iPad

Skype Coming Soon to iPad

The good news? Skype has officially announced that they are working to bring an official Skype for iPad app to the App Store this summer. Skype promises the app will provide a whole new UI designed specifically for the larger iPad display. During the announcement, Skype’s Asia Pacific Vice President also mentioned hopes that future iPad hardware would integrate a front facing camera, much like the rumored next generation iPhone expected to launch at Apple’s World Wide Developer’s Conference next month. Skype VP Dan Neary said, “We believe that video is part of the Skype experience,” says the VP, “and we believe that video is moving aggressively into the mobile environment, so stay tuned on an announcement on that.” Neary clearly knows the iPad has some catching up to do however, “I think the iPad is an incredibly exciting product but it is clearly not the same communications device in its current form that the iPhone is,” he continues. “So we’re looking forward to further advancements in the iPad and where that can go in the future.” Buy an Apple iPad on Amazon.com Buy an 11 Item Accessory Bundle for Apple iPad Tablet 3G 16GB, 32GB, 64GB skin case, sleeve cover, earphone, screen protector, crystal case, 3.5 MM Aux cable.
